Really Italy?!?

Oh, .....Italy..........(from CNN today)

Apparently if you were to name my kid Benito or Rachele in 2009, I could receive almost $2,000 from the government..

ROME, Italy (AP) -- What's in a name? For parents in Italy who name their children after Second World War Fascist dictator Benito Mussolini or his wife Rachele, it could be €1,500 ($1,900).

The Fiamma Tricolore party is offering the money to parents in five southern Italian villages who name their children Benito or Rachele.

Party official Vincenzo Mancusi says "they are nice names."

He says the initiative is a way to pay homage to the roots of his movement and keep alive names that are hardly ever used.

Mancusi said Tuesday the bonus applies to five villages in the Basilicata region where birth rates are especially low.

Designed as an incentive, it applies to babies who are born in 2009.

Mancusi said the cash should be used to buy clothes or other items for the child.
