This week, we not only had luck with jobs and found a home, but I also had my first official San Francisco bum experience. People all along have told me the bums here are notorious for being picky eaters. If you hand them a hamburger, they'll say "I prefer tofu" or "I'm a vegetarian." Well, yesterday, while walking along Van Ness, we heard a bum ask another "do you want some of my papaya?"
So WHAT homeless person do you know eats one of the most expensive fruits? I find this both hilarious and mind-blogging! I kind of love it actually. Even though the homeless here are spoiled foodies, I'm secretly hoping I become friends with a bum this year. Really. I want them to know me on first-name basis and if they are hungry I'll give them food. Tofu, papaya, you name it, little bum. I'll give it to ya!
These are my things to do:
1. Get a gym membership. There are five in my neighborhood within a five minute walk, so I need to do some research and figure out which one I want to go to.
2. Um learn the city. Now that we are officially about to live here, I really need to orient myself better with the city and learn how to get around.
3. I bought a shower curtain yesterday online and we still have to get:
1. a bedspread 2. a rug 3. a plant/tree 4. bathmat
