PaRiS September 2009

In Paris, we mainly ate, devoured some local markets, strolled the streets, ate, napped in the parks, ate. Hmm.. I see a pattern. The first shot is of some escargot cooked in parsely, butter, and garlic. If you would have asked me five years ago if I would ever eat land snails, I would have never said yes.

What's Paris without a crepe with Nutella? I prefer mine with sliced banana and Nutella.

Looks like we can call this one the "Golden Dog Corner." Aren't they sweet?

Me in the Jardin du Luxembourg

A view of our little garden at Paris Oasis. We first found out about this bed and breakfast on Trip Advisor, where it has consistently been ranked the #1 specialty lodging in all of Paris. We wanted to see what all of the fuss was about, so we booked our lodging in their garden-view Iris room for the weekend. We really enjoyed the quaintness of Paris Oasis and couldn't believe we were actually in the middle of a city. Because of the quiet surrounding, we felt like we were miles and miles away from the city, when in reality we were in the middle of Montmatre.

Thank you KK for the recommendation. This was our second time to eat here and it was just as delicious as the first time!

There were tons of people out on Saturday night in Montmatre.

Isn't this chair adorable? I love the colors and the studding along the base of the chair.

At Les Puces antique market, we saw loads of unique pieces, such as this dual cutting board/wine rack. I'd love to find a carpenter who could replicate this piece for my imaginary kitchen.

We toured the market at Place Monge, as well.

Cheese. Drool. Cheese. Drool.

Place Monge

What would any trip be without obsessively staring at a homeless man? And I of course made up a make-believe story about this man, which I convinced myself was true. (He was a former librarian who drank himself crazy, if you ask me). Staring is so fun, I tell you.

Here we have a snack including bread, cheese, a French terrine, and hummus.

At dinner one night.

Chris at the famous cookware store E. Dehillerin. We almost bought an iron wall rack for pots and pans but the man wouldn't ship it for us.

Here's another shot from inside E. Dehillerin.

And then I ran into this cute guy on the street... oh wait, that's my hubby!
